WHEN POLITICS IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN LIVES
A Lewisville ISD school board member lays it out in the open.
This photo is going around on social media amongst concerned students. This is what the hallways at Flower Mound High School look like between classes with a student population over 3500. My daughter who is a student there says that in the hallways between classes, only 25% of the kids are masked.
Lewisville ISD remains obstinate in not defying Governor Abbott's mandate like other school districts have done.
Today one of the school board members, Buddy Bonner, said the following on why the school district was not doing to do what is needed in this pandemic:
"In the current matter, expending District resources to sue Governor Abbott would not be good stewardship of District resources in light of a deficit budget for the next school year. "
Further, he admitted that politics was more important than student and staff safety:
"Society is sharply divided in many aspects, particularly the response to Covid 19, which has been politicized into mostly partisan camps. Governor Abbott has staked his territory around his EO and is unlikely to change. Why? Two extreme right challengers have emerged to primary Governor Abbott and to waffle on his latest EO would cede political ground to these challengers. Since March 2020, public schools have been whipsawed back and forth by Covid 19 and responses to the virus. "

As of this afternoon there are 321 available ICU beds in the entire state of Texas. Five days ago there were 439. I will have a hospitalization and ICU forecast update later tonight.
There is next to no pediatric ICU bed availability in the entire state of Texas.
Not just COVID patients need ICU beds.
What happens if you get into a major car accident?
What happens if you have a heart attack and need an ICU?
Where do all those things that normally need ICU care go when the ICUs are fillig up fast?
Be sure to tell Lewisville ISD how you feel in light of where things are headed with the Delta variant:
